Laptop won't recognise games

I have an ASUS laptop with 4gb of RAM, I installed one of my favourite games Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic 2 and it worked fine for ten minutes then suddenly stopped, a friend then suggested I uninstall then reinstall it. So that's what I tried the problem is when I tried reinstalling it wouldn't even recognise the game. Any thoughts? Anything helpful be appreciated.

GTA 3, Call of Duty 4, Need for Speed and Command and Conquer.

I know you titled the thread that the laptop doesn't recognize games, but you specifically mentioned KotOR2 in the first post. Do those other games run? Or is it all of them.

And what OS are you running? KotOR2 has problems with windows 7 without a patch.

Call of Duty 4 is the only game that successfully runs. I tried a few times to upgrade KotOR2 but it just refused. GTA 3 wouldn't install and the rest would install but wouldn't play. The laptop uses Windows 7 Home Premium.
