Laptop_turning_off when power cord pulled out

When the power button is pushed the lights turn on but the screen is still black. After about a minute of waiting, it just turns off. Also, when power cord is pulled out, the laptop turns off.

That is almost a 10 year old laptop, try it without the battery in. If that also does not work, probably a bad motherboard.

I have already tried that. I think its probably the motherboard.
