Laptops gets stuck on notepad for 5 mins when I paste a list of about 10^6 numbers in the notepad, Is this normal?

I was copy pasting some output from netbeans into a txt file and its get stuck there when i paste for about 5 mins, Is this normal?

Can this be a software or a hardware issue?

You are pasting a million rows of text, lets say somewhere between 1 and 10MB data. That will slow things down. The behavior you are experiencing is expected IMO.
