Laptop's performance suffers after I close my laptop

Whenever I close my laptop, putting it into hibernation and logging back on, my performance in video games suffers. For example, in one game I get around 40FPS before I make it go into hibernation when closing it. But when I do close it, my FPS drops around to 20. I fix it by just turning off the computer and turning it back on. However, it is very annoying to keep doing this process, so I am wondering if there might be a fix. Do a windows repair, it should be under PC Settings.
