** UPDATE **

I have flashed the system bios with v1.13 Pheonix, this has not made a difference.

I have flashed the graphics card bios also with an image of the one already on the card, this made no difference.

--------------

It all seems like the only thing left to do now is change the graphics card for the spare one i bought ( same model ) maybe re-seating this could make the screen come back on ?

If that fails i am at a loss...

**FIXED! **

After much messing about i changed the graphics card / thermal paste and the screen came on!

Thanks for the advice.

so it seems that it was a faulty GPU after all. Interesting, glad you've figure it out.

How much did the repairs cost you in the end?

Yes so it seems! or it could be that it needed re-seating ? either way the old card is out and the new one is in with fresh thermal paste to cool! I would advise anyone who is having difficulties with screens to always check the GFX card regardless if its working on a dual screen as like in my issue.
So for parts i spent
LCD Cable from China = £14
Inverter =£3
GFX Card Nvidia 9300m 512MB = £7

Acer aspire 8730g 18.4” laptop = £40

so in total about £64 for a pretty good laptop.
Hopefully there won’t be any more problems with it.

😀

I own one too and repair major amount of laptops. To say what you just did makes me laugh as there is a combination of things that can go wrong and without seeing it there is no way you can make that call period. :ouch:
