LCD TV as monitor not working

My 22''TEAC LCD TV/DVD will not work as monitor for my Toshiba Satellite laptop
It will run in safe mode but no other I've tried all settings on Tv and computer im confused can some one please help. I'M using a HDMI CABLE

Have you tried to press the fn key and f4 or f5 on your laptop to get the tv to work as your monitor?
