Leep losing ip address for conncecting wireless

Hello,
my wireless laptop will not connect to internet,even tho it casy excellant connection,it reads"invalid IP address" & "acquiring network address"..i make a call to u-verse & in the recorded message they tell me the system was ck'd & to reboot my computer..so everytime i get on my laptop i have been doing this & it will connect! what can i do to permanently fix this problem..in plain english for me,please.thanks in advance.

Check TCP/IP Properties.

Start, Connect To, Connection, Properties, Scroll Down TCP/IP and highlight, click Properties and check that Obtain DNS and IP address automatically are enabled.
