Lenovo idea Pad 520 dosn't work properly after an upgrade

Hi I have just bought the lenovo 520 idea pad. It has been doing updates on and off for 3 days. The last one said it was from windows 10 for April 18.Now the side bar only has white icons and only windows cortana and what looks like a film then down the bottom there is only a couple of things, but none of them are responsive. I have the google chrome icon on the right hand side of the screen which works.I have pressed and holed the power key until it turned off then restarted it but its the same cant get into settings or anything else to shut it down

If you just bought it, return it and tell them it is not working correctly.
