Hey guys,

I have an ideapad Z710 and ive done some minor hardware changes to the laptop:

  • i have swapped the original hdd with a ssd and it worked perfectly.
  • i have removed the dvd player and replaced it with a caddy so i could put an extra hdd.

so here is where the problem starts,
so when i place the second hdd into it, it goes into the lenovo logo bootloop.
ive the checked the bios if it boots from the SSD, but the problem still occurs with the right settings.

So right now it works perfectly fine with just one harddrive, but starts acting weird if i place the second in.

is there a way to fix this?

Solution
update the BIOS of the laptop, it might help to sort out compatibility issues.

also in the lenovo forum this issue is known:
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/Z710-Drive-Caddy/td-p/1380067/page/2

Here is a solution from another user (Set the sata mode in BIOS to legacy):
iacobionut

Using a different HDD then the original one is helping as well, but not necessary with the legacy mode enabled
