Hiya, I’m considering purchasing this Lenovo laptop off of eBay.

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F192471097685

I’m going to be using this Laptop for College (in the UK) and for DJing as it’s my hobby. I’ll be running RekordBox as my software.

It currently has 6gb if ram and I’m thinking of buying another 4GB stick to take it up to 10GB.

However I’m uncertain as to what RAM to use as on some articles I’ve read it says that DDR3L RAM is needed and on others, DDR3 is ok.

So if any of you can clarify what type of RAM I’ll need that’d be fantastic.

All answers are much appreciated, Ajsski99

Yes, that should work. You could go for broke and just get a 16GB kit, that would be pretty much guaranteed to work. Mixing memory doesn't always work. Works best at the lower speeds and higher timings.

Likely only has two slots, so getting a 4GB stick would replace a 2GB stick already in there and bring you up to 8GB. (This is assuming it has slots at all, I will look into that)

Unless they list the actual memory mpdules, it would be best to wait for it to arrive, then try to find a close match after using CPU-Z to get the basic information.

Other than that looks like a decent laptop.

Page 76 for the memory, disassembly starts on page 69.

Wow has Lenovo's website turned into a useless pile. I have no idea what memory it takes. You are right that it should be DDR3L or DDR3.

We now know it has two memory slots, so a 4GB stick will bring you up to 8GB. What to buy you can ask again when you have the machine in hand. CPU-Z is a good resource. You will want to check the voltage specifically. 1.3 would be DDR3L, 1.5 would be DDR3.

Might also look at crucial.com. They have a memory selector that has most OEM models listed.

Thanks for the reply mate. Hadn’t occurred to me that the 6gb of RAM would be made of up a 4 gig stick and a 2 gig stick... lol!

I’ve done some research and the maximum RAM the laptop can take is 16GB. So would buying a 8GB stick and adding it to the machine be viable? 12gb is a sweet spot, and when running multiple tracks at once on Rekordbox, the more RAM the better!

Thanks for the help
