Lenovo X220i turns on flashes it's lights and then turns off

My Lenovo X220i has been functioning fine for the year that I have had it. Yesterday it would not turn on even after being charged for several hours. When I pressed the power button all of the lights will turn on and then off. If I connect it to the charger and do this the computer will just constantly repeat this cycle. Please can someone help me!

Hi, remove the battery and try booting again with the adapter.

If it will not boot off the adapter alone, try refreshing the EC: remove battery and charging cable, press and hold the power button for 4 - 5 seconds. Reconnect charger only and see if it boots (without battery).

If you have the same problem, it's very likely due to motherboard failure.
