Hello, I'd like to ask 2 questions:
How many PCI-E slots has Lenovo y50? I don't have this laptop, but I want to buy it, once. And I found that external GPU can be added thruth PCI-E, but most laptops has only 1 and it's used for Wifi. So how many PCI-E slots has Lenovo y50?
Also, how can be added external GPU? Is thruth PCI-E only solution?
Thank you for answers!

Laptops do not have pcie. Laptops have mpcie for wifi but these are not for gpus. However since it's the same protocol, there have been diy and like 3 commercial egpu products. But it's cheaper and better performance to just get a laptop with a better gpu. Mpcie is x1 or x2 so bottlenecks. You'd have to have the bottom cover off, lose all mobility and would need an external monitor. Might as well get a desktop and save a couple hundred dollars while you're at it.

I too have this exact same question. The Y50 4K Touch is a beautiful laptop, but I want the power of a full sized GPU for maxing out demanding games - and preparing my self for Star Citizen.

So... Can we use a PCI-E adapter for an external GPU? Will we lose wifi?

Thanks!

As far as I know, we would have to use external wifi adapter to plug in GPU. However, what I saw on many videos, they used external monitor, not the monitor on laptop. So I dont know, if is possible to use laptops display or we would have to connect it thruth VGA cable - I don't own Lenovo y50 so far, so I don't know if laptop has VGA port.

Thank you, that was helpfull.
I am thinking of buying Lenovo y50, however, don't know if GTX 860m or GTX 960m, that should be released soon, I will decide on power and price.
