My laptop has only a HDMI1.4 port....so I get an output of 3840x2160 resolution @30Hz....I have a 4K tv and cables (both verified by connecting thru PS4 pro) ...i thought this is a limitation of the HDMI port so i bought a docking station(also supports 4k) to get the output from USB 3.0 and connect via HDMI from docking station to my TV the output was still 30Hz....

Is there any way to increase the output to 60hz?

my graphics drivers are
Intel HD graphics 530
Nvidia Geforce 960M

Based on my research both the drivers support 4k at 60 Hz.....what could i be missing here?

A 1.4 port should support more than even 60, likely up to 144. So I don't know why you would think it would only support 30. Have you checked the settings for it? Perhaps it is the cable you are using?

Hi...thanks for your reply....but does it support 60hz for 4k? .....when i click right click on desktop ->intel graphic settings and select a drop down for my TV ... i get only 30hz in the dropdown.....but when i connect the same HDMI cable to my PS4 pro i get an output of 4k at 60Hz...thats why i thought the bottleneck was the port and not the cable...anyway ill double check it again today.
