LG lcd tv has flickering horizontal lines while viewing tv but not visible when watching vcr
disconnected cable and no lines when using small indoor antennae

So are you using your vcr as a tuner? if so, i'd recommend getting a set top box from the cable company. VCR tuners are extremely limited by their resolution.

No, we have set top box from cable co. Was testing to see if problem occurred using
vcr. thanks. mc

Sounds like it could possibly be the cable box. Perhaps try it on a different HDMI input? This would confirm either way.
