Is it better to listen to a home stereo n Mono or stereo and isn't everything analog mono

No.

Stereo is how the artist intended it. It is analog or digital but to get to your ears it eventually ends up analog.

Stereo means the sound comes in two channels. Some sounds come in on the left, some come in on the right, some blended for both.

Stereo also makes the sound sound "wider".

If your stereo system has a mono button it would have two possible functions.
1. If you are playing an old mono recording it may sound better with the mono button in.
2. If you are playing the FM stereo radio and the signal is noisy the mono button will reduce or eliminate the noise.
