Logic Express 6.4: punch-in?

So when I try to punch into record in Logic Express 6.4, the system mutes
playback for a second or two before engaging record. I have turned software
monitoring off and the buffer size makes no difference.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

Sorry Jay.... there are so many options in the software that accompanies
that rack unit, I can't pull them out of the only guy I know with 828s feeding
his Nuendo... especially since he hits ADATs first and then uses the 828
to transfer to Nuendo. I'm no help except to make sure you have all system
sounds off, checked all software recording and 828 software parameters,
and ask you to offer up any other factors that might some into play... like did
you add or update the software after the 828 was installed or vice-versa (?),
etc... I'm also limited by having only used the 828 on a PC. Sorry again...

It's pretty strange, as everything else seems to work flawlessly. I'm running
OS 10.3.2 on the G5 and installed the latest MOTU driver for the 828. Haven't
upgraded anything else and the OS X AudioUnits support for the 828 seems good,
as it works nicely with iTunes and AudioDesk. Maybe I'll try recording with
AudioDesk and see if it also mutes with a punch-on-the-fly.

Gotta' go to work, but is this the first time you've tried punching in
since updating the 828 driver? With OS 10.3.2 and new 828 drivers,
you know what I'm thinking.... <g>

Actually, I never tried this before, so it's not like it used to work and now
doesn't. It's the same driver I always used when I borrowed the older 828 from
work to test things out, but at that time I was only interested in transfering
tracks from the DA-38 to Logic.

So now I'm trying to do some recording and punch-in isn't working right.

I think you want to hit the Logic User Group list. See you there?
