logitech z506 sub woofer question

hi im just wondering if any one can tell me if the z506 series is actual 5.1 with a discrete sub channel or if it funtions like a 2.1 system does. the one I bought i am having a issue where the sub woofer works while playing music but in the speaker configuration page sub makes no sound i also tested with a dolbly trueHD speaker map file and obtained the same results.
Im not sure if i have a faulty speaker set/sound card or if this is by design.

Are you sure you've connected the speaker system to the audio output connectors using the three 3.5mm audio jacks? i.e Green, Black and Orange/Yellow? What is the make and model of your sound card?

Yes it is all plugged in correctly I used the sound test to determine plug locations.
When I swap Center/sub in config I can here Center out of the sub.

Card is a CMedia card that I found in the bargain bin at the computer shop for 5$ Model number unknown

Just tested sound card with another set of speakers and I’m getting signal from both cen/and sub on them so sound card is not the culprit.
If any one has a set of Z506’s can you confirm sub function thru config page I’m fairly certain they are not true 5.1 I have 2 sets and both exhibit the same behaviour
