Same issue! The black 3.5mm goes from the back of the Sub to where in the back of my tower PC? I have 6 audio outputs from my desktop motherboard and none make it work properly. Thank you!!

So just to edit, 2 speakers plugged left/right directly into back of Sub Woofer. The 3.5mm supplied cable is going from the middle of the sub to the "d-sub" of my motherboard, still weird sound coming and no bass.

you should be using the green headphone/front speaker output jack on your pc. sound should also be set to 2.0/2.1 on your pc. the way those 2.1 speaker systems work is they pull bass tones from the stereo audio signal - there is no separate connection for them to deliver bass (unlike 5.1 systems which do).
