Long-term usage of "travel adapter" for laptop?

Hi,
I brought my laptop + charger from USA to Australia (where electricity is 230V 50Hz).
Now, in the past I successfully used a "US to Australia travel adapter" that dials down the voltage. But back then it was for short trips, while now I'm settling in Australia for years. So I was wondering whether a "travel adapter" is okay for long term? Or might it shorten the laptop's life somehow, e.g. due to current fluctuations?
My alternative is to purchase a complete Australia laptop charger, but it's a bit expensive.

Thanks :)

The vast majority of laptop AC adapters will work with either 110V or 230V. Look on the adapter itself at the allowable input voltages. If it says 110-230V, then you are all set - a transformer to reduce the voltage will not be necessary. All you will need is to buy a short power cord to go from the adapter (usually mickey mouse power connector) to the wall socket of the country you're visiting.

You could just source a charger from Ebay/Aliexpress which conforms to your laptop. I'd always suggest buying from sellers that sell genuine parts/adapters. In retrospect, you shouldn't have any issues. The step down adapter/transformer should do it's job fine but as with all electronic devices they will need to have a close eye on it in case it malfunctions at your hour of need.
