So recently I've been thinking about buy myself a laptop that can finally play PC games. Games I'd like to be able to play are GTA IV, GTA V, potential Fallout 4, Minecraft etc.

I would like to run these games at 1080p with 60fps at max or high settings (4K optional but not a necessity) and would be able to run mods on these games.

Can anyone help me find a laptop that can do any of this? I would like to pay around $1,500 or cheaper if possible.

GTA V at 1080p and 60FPS would require something in the area of a GTX 970m. That would enable you to do very high textures (no AA) and get around 45-60 FPS.

A 980M would enable more eyecandy, but even then you would only get around 30 FPS average with 8xMSAA, with no AA you would likely never go below 60 FPS.

A 960m will work too, but you will have to settle for normal settings and dip to 30-35 FPS at times.

Other than that, a decent quad core processor and 8gb of memory is needed. I would go for an i7(mobile version).

Forget 4k, that's still desktop hardware territory still(think Titan X or 295x2).

Notebookcheck - GTA V:

Without MSAA, GTX 960M should run GTA V fine with 1080p and high settings ~ 50-60 FPS. WIth GTX 970M you could get the same framerate with high/very high + MSAA. GTX 980M is a beast. By reducing advanced graphics settings, it might be able to run the game maxed out.
