I am not to concerned with the cpus in these laptops because they either have an i7 4720HQ or an i7 5700HQ

I have never heard of the EUROCOM brand but it seems to be great on prices and ok on quality but i still don't know.

If the lenovo offered anything higher than the 960 then this post your reading would not exist.

I really like the lenovo but Im alittle iffy on the 960 for gaming, obviously I would be gaming at 1080 but Is there a way of overclocking?

Does playing at 1080 on a 4k display look worse than on a 1080 display?

These are the questions I need answered to make the final decision

I would really want a touch screen laptop, but id rather have more gaming capabilities because I need a laptop that can play planetside 2 / Star citizen / ARK survival evolved and other demanding games like that.

so I believe the y50 has an issue where it has a refresh rate of 48hz.

also, for a laptop... id just go with 1080. the 4k screen probably looks better, but if youre gonna be gaming at 1080 anyway (and you will...) id rather go with 1080.
definitely one with a SSD. it will make a nice difference . especially for turning it on when you get to class and stuff.

id aim for a 970m or 980m model.

im liking the gigabyte

It depends on how far you have to walk/bike on campus - if you have to walk a distance long enough that you wouldn't want to sprint it, I would go with the ASUS G501. Light weight, thin, good build quality and a looker. Lenovo is another good option but it is definitely heavier and thicker than the G501. I have a Y50 w/ a 1080p screen w/ an 860 and it gets the job done for gaming on the go but it isn't a gaming desktop with a high-refresh screen and that shouldn't be your performance expectation. I play Hardline and BF3 on medium without the laptop feeling like lava and decent frames for a mobile and it handles steam games without any hiccups.

If you go with the Y50, it's possible to open the case to swap the drive so price shop skus. Might be able to find a sku with a standard HDD that includes the 960 and a 8GB instead of 16GB. I upgraded the drive (from 1TB hybrid to 500GB Samsung 850 Evo), but not the RAM on mine and it is running great.
