Hi. I am looking for a new laptop and Ive been looking around for a while but cant seem to find anything close to these specs for around $1000.

Specs that I want are as follows:

2 hard drive bays (for ssd and hdd)/(important)
include at least 1 7200rpm HDD with 500gb+ (I will buy and install SDD)
i7 quad core processor, 2ghz+
8gb ram
nvidia graphics card 740m or higher
17.3" screen with 1920x1080 res
CD drive
at least 2 USB 3.0
4-5 hours of standby battery life or a expandable removable battery (important)

If anyone has a clue as to which laptops come close to these specs please help me.

Personally I would go with the asus as they are known for gaming. But if you provide the specs I can have a look.

The Acer has a HD and SSD. My Alienware has a 256 SSD and 1 TB HD. They also have a model with 4 256 SSD RAID 0.

Yes you can always upgrade to a ssd but if the machine only has one drive bay it could cost at least double to get a ssd the same size as your HD. Plus alot of high end game machines will allow you to upgrade CPU and GPU.

The ASUS has two drive bays as well as mSATA. SSD upgrades cost MUCH less than CPU/GPU upgrade. You're not making much of a case.

I'm not trying to make a case I think the Asus is a good machine and a good choice. I'm just saying that some system allow you to upgrade the CPU and GPU. My statement is about other computer besides Asus. I myself need a second hard drive with a SSD while others a 256 SSD alone will fit their needs. I'm just bringing up a point of what he need to think abotu when purchasing, I'm not trying to push away from Asus.
