For a while now I've been looking to purchase a laptop for basic web browsing, small windows programs, and word processing (no Chromebook).

While 32gb of hdd space doesn't seem like a lot, these two laptop seemed appealing:

(^Best Buy has a sale for $150 for this)

http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-ES1-111M-C40S-11-6-Inch-Diamond/dp/B00MNOPS1C/ref=pd_rhf_cr_s_cp_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=0N4QH71YMW9M0W4VBN8N

A 64gb micro SD card is always a feasible option for me.

Basically, the laptops have the same specs but the Asus has an atom processor vs the Acer's celeron processor; the Asus has a 12 hour battery life vs the Acer's 5 hours.

On paper, the Acer seems better but reviews tend to lean toward the speed and portability of the Asus. Which do you guys think I should buy?

Atom processor is not good at all. Celeron is better
You are better off with the Acer. But since Best Buy is selling the Asus really cheap, Asus is a better option (money wise, 12hr battery)

I totally agree with you--but the chipset on this device makes it overall, very efficient. While I returned an extremely sluggish 15.6" toshiba with a celeron processor, I feel that this one is much more efficient in terms of processing power and energy consumption.

Then again, both products have low end SSD's and other similar specs, making the celeron more advantageous...

By the way, I set up the thread incorrectly but it's meant to be a discussion, not question-answer type post.
