Hello. I'm looking for a laptop for my mother that will be used for browsing the web, watching movies, and very light gaming (think FB clicky games and whatnot).

I'd like to find something that has 1920x1080p resolution, 15.6" and 8GB of RAM. Preferablly with an i3 or greater processor. Graphics card can be integrated, I don't think you need a dedicated card for FB games and other clicky game types but correct me if I am wrong.

This was my first choice:

https://www.amazon.com/Asus-F555LA-AB31-15-6-Inch-i3-5010U-Processor/dp/B01LX0KIGB/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1481572743&sr=1-1&keywords=laptop&refinements=p_n_feature_three_browse-bin%3A9647486011%2Cp_36%3A30000-50000%2Cp_n_feature_four_browse-bin%3A2289794011%7C2289793011%7C2289792011&th=1

The problem I foresee is that it only has 4 GB of RAM and she tends to have a million tabs open at once and I don't think 4GB will cut it for that.

My next choice was this:
https://www.amazon.com/HP-Notebook-15-ay011nr-15-6-Inch-Processor/dp/B01CGGOZOM/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1481573737&sr=1-1&keywords=laptop&refinements=p_n_feature_three_browse-bin%3A9647486011%2Cp_36%3A30000-50000%2Cp_n_feature_four_browse-bin%3A2289794011%7C2289793011%7C2289792011%2Cp_n_feature_five_browse-bin%3A7817223011

Anyone have other suggestions, or thoughts on the HP Notebook 15-ay011nr?

So unfortunately she just told me it needs to have a touch screen. So everything we discussed is thrown out of the window now. :/

Is it even possible to get a 1920x1080, 8GB, i3 or greater laptop for under 500 dollars?

That looks pretty good. Out of curiosity, why is it cheaper than this laptop despite having a touch screen?

What is the tradeoff that allows it to be a cheaper price? Hmm it looks like the HP Notebook 15-ay011nr is 0.75lbs lighter. Is that why it costs more? I'm just hoping the Dell Inspiron isn't cheaper despite having a touchscreen because it's poorer quality material over all and won't last as long.

The only way to really know if the Dell uses less expensive components is to purchase both laptops and then strip them down.

The only advice I can offer is to read the 1 and 2 star reviews to see if there are any particular issues people are having that stands out. Keep in mind the following two points:

1. People are more often going to write a review to complain rather than write a review to praise.

2. No laptop is perfect. Someone is bound to have some type of issue with a laptop whether is is trivial or a real issue.

Well thanks again for the pick just e-mailed her. It has everything she wants so I don't think she'll complain again.
