looking for best headset without paying for a brand

Hey guys. My search to find an optimal headset for gaming and music has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride, so I'm here to ask for some help from more experienced users.

At first I was totally set on ant of the main brands, razer steel series. But just before I went in to purchase I read some concerning content on the quality of these brands and the price, basicly I felt like a sucker.

So my budget is about 100-150 and I'm looking for a the best value headset reflectI've to quality, with out paying to much for visual appeal.

Any pair of good headphones paired with a mic would be better choice than buying a headset.

Soundstage:

Soundstage is pretty good, it's an open headphone though, so you expect that. Instruments and vocals all had great separation from each other, not congested into a cramped clump of mush. The channels fade back and forth nicely and it's easy to generate a 3D field depending on what's powering them. I say that because these are excellent for movies & gaming where position is important and pleasing. In other words, here's a $59 headphone that is great for gaming that is less expensive than the common "gaming" headphones that get recommended left and right blindly. The difference on top of that is that these have plentiful rich bass, so they're great to listen to music and watch movies on too. Not just focus on little foot steps in a FPS game. Everytime I see "AD700 for gaming" I think "No, SR850 for gaming, AD700 for foot steps in FPS games only."

edit: your budget does allow for better headphones, but this pair is good if you're on a tight budget. It can be compared to the soundquality of gaming headsets going for around $100.

for $150usd i'd look into getting the hd558 (as cheap as $130) and something like the moovmic which attaches to headphones ($20). probably the best sound quality you will get in your $150 budget for gaming.

the sennheiser headsets like the u320 and pc350 arent bad though. marked up for sure like any gaming headset will be but decent sound and a good mic.
