Hi all,
I am looking for informed opinions on the best VR upgrade path for me.
Current hardware:
Gigabyte Z170 Gamer 7 Rev 1 mobo | i7-6700k | 16gb Ram | 250gb m.2 for OS Windows 10 pro | Oculus Rift CV1 | EVGA 1080ti water cooled
Sim racing in Project Cars 2, Assetto Corsa, Raceroom, and RF2 are the games that I mostly play.
I was thinking about upgrading to Z370 board and i7-8700k cpu
Am I going to get any appreciable difference in better fps and video quality for these games. Or, am I kind of wasting my money for differences that I would receive, upgrading from an 6700k to a 8700K?
I don't mind spending the money I just can't seem to figure out if should pull the trigger or not.

Any suggestions or opinions would be appreciated

From what I've read and the benchmarks I've looked at, the improvement you will see is something like a 10% performance/fps boost. I will leave you to decide whether or not that is worth the money to you. If I were you I would definitely wait until next gen (and maybe oc the 6700k in the meantime).

THanks for your input. I already have the 6700k oc to 4.5. I don't think a 10% increase is worth it at this time. I will probably wait for the i9-9700k to come out later this year.
