I have window vista laptop with core 2 processor & 1GB Ram. How can I upgrade my laptop & speed up its performance

It will be close to the same price to get a used faster laptop than try to upgrade an old system with only 1 GB of RAM. A first gen Core i3/i5 system can be found in the $100 range.
