who knows how often this happens...not everywhere in the world are the police as trained as in the states especially concerning cyber crime/child porn....just finding pics on a pc should only warrant suspiscion and an investigation..not a charge, thats ridiculous..chil porn is a very emotional subject we have to be careful when dealing with it

Let the guilty go free, cause someone who commits a crime will most likely do it again, so they will get caught, but the innocent person could lose a large part of their life over something they did not do.

You wonder why people go "postal" in the work place. This takes it to a whole new level. If any man sabotaged my career and reputation in such a brutal manner, all I can say is he would be in a coma for the rest of his life.

1) Having normal porn on his machine would not be illegal, which is the whole point. It wasn't a work machine (he was a janitor).
3) I thought the same thing.

"Make possession of child porn a minor offense (only requiring a fine). Make possession of child porn by a registered sex offender a felon. Make distribution of child porn a misdemeanor. Make PRODUCTION of child porn an automatic life sentence with no possibility of parole."

Can you really be serious about this ?? making possession minor offence would just fuel the sicko's that create the chil porn in the first place.

I dont think anyone can possiby jusity creating / possession or distribution being anything other that a very serious offence. What if someone had pictures of your child ?? are you trying to say its ok just give them a fine ? like heel you would - there isnt on person on here who wouldnt seriously consider giving the offender a serous beating.

I suspect you could have detected the scam just by looking at the file dates. I'll bet the several hundred porn files all suddenly just showed up at the same date and time.

I don't think people who get off on child porn are going to be deterred by a possible fine.
The real issue has been stated, already: For crimes like this, an accusation is almost equivalent to a conviction. Lives are ruined. Pleas of innocence are useless. How do you proof you didn't download the pictures?
A friend (psycho therapist) told me a story of an anti-aggression workshop for kids (5-8 yrs old) where he helped out a psychologist friend of his. One day, some parents and the police show up. Their kid claimed the psychologist "touched him". How the kid knew how to make something like that up, at this age, is beyond me. But only because my friend had been there and stated that at no time were any of the kids alone with either of them, and the fact that the kid eventually said it had made up the story, did nothing come of it.
I bet, the guys saw his life flash before his eyes. How do you defend yourself against something like that. One of my worst nightmares.

Normal adult porn is not an issue. Almost any normal adult (men and women - mostly men) have porn. Even Sports Illustrated can be considered somewhat porn... ;)

But yeah, after this article - I looked up the levels, I didn't bother locating the UK level - but found a "level" from Wikipedia. Which has a scale 1-10 (10 being worst). So that is a bit more detailed. But in general, most of that should get in you in prison.

Lower levels = having a bunch of PICS of kids. ie: a guy is a perv if he has 1000 photos of kids at park, pool, etc - clothes or swim-wear, etc. Compared to a father who has 5000 photos of his own children.

In the age of digital cameras, as parents - we easily have tens of thousands of photos of our kids. :)

Looking at the levels chart (no examples shown - duh, pervert!) - there are some nasty people out there. I've read articles in mags-etc about cops barfing at some evidence they find. Prison is a BAD place to be a pedophile... and a child killer = death anyway.

Yep, that would be a dead give away. But that can depend on HOW good the "computer expert is". As an investigator - if the person is claiming "framed" - I'd look at:
Creation dates, move dates, and location on the drives.

I save art, photos and articles off the internet. Because its over years - their storage would show a mixed history. As compared to hundreds of files grouped together... I'm talking looking at the files by sectors if you have to.. as well as deletions.

BTW: checkout interfacelift.com for awesome free backgrounds - or just for viewing. I've been going to this site for about a year on and off. Usage like that would show actual USE, not dropped.

PS: If / when an infected computer is moving CP - that person should not be found guilty. But in the USA - we have idiots. Like the courts putting teens (12~16) into a legal nightmare as sex criminals for taking photos of themselves with cameras and sending them out. Duh, their KIDS! doing stupid kid things.

Whan you jail an innocent for a crime, you're automatically letting the guilty for that crime go free.

Damn, this is scary to see how easily our lives can be screwed over by a malicious hacker. Coupled with the fact that 90% of computers out there are operated by tech-illiterate people, this can become a really big problem.

Its funny how everything child porn and general porn related are posted on this site. Why do you always post pedonews, put up some electronics news and stuff like that, pedo news is not very relevnt even though there was a laptop and cd involved...

The most unfortunate would be Eddie, as this sort of stigma will never go away once it was brought up, though after he maybe proven innocent been the human being as we are, we will still harbor doubts and "shy" away from him, basically his life in that town and surrounding town is gone, he can only now move to another far away place to start anew but that would be easy as he is already 60 and 1 foot into the coffin. God blessed him.
