Manage/Create Drive Partitions in Chromebook

Chrome OS, has a different filesystem than Windows. If you are not sure about the filesystem that Linux (or Chrome OS to be precise) uses, it is recommended that you pick the default configurations while installing the operating system on your Chromebook and leave the technicalities alone.

On the other hand, if you are well versed with the Linux filesystem and, therefore, know how the hard drive partitions in Chrome OS work, you can follow the steps given below to manage/create the partitions in the hard drive of your Chromebook:

    ■Turn on your Chromebook laptop.
■Click Menu (Gear icon) from the bottom-left corner on the desktop screen.

■From the bottom, click the desired button to make modifications to the selected partition.

Note: To manage the partitions in hard disk drive, you can choose any of the following option as required:

■To create a new partition, click the Add Partition button.
■If you want to format an existing partition, click Edit.
■Click Delete to delete the selected partition.
■To move a partition, click the Move button.

No matter which option you choose, you will be able to make modifications to the partitions only if the modifications can be made. For example, you will be able to create a new partition in the hard drive only if there is some unallocated space in it.
