about 4 yrs ago I had an issue with this driver not working kwhile I had iTunes installed.
my son got it working again after uninstalling iTunes. he found a solution on the internet.
it is not working again and I uninstalled iTunes but cannot find the answer without buying
some SW pkg that I am not sure will even help. I need the drive so I can update SW programs.

anyone have a solution?

There isn't a specific driver for any CD/DVD Drive. Does the DVD Drive show up in Device Manager with an error of some sort? If the driver is corrupt or not working, Just delete it in Device Manager and reboot. Upon restart, windows will find it and re-install the driver for you.
