Maya 2013 installation failing...

Talk to Autodesk. The software is expensive enough, the least you can expect is a little support from the publisher.

No I have the student edition (free completely) so technically they don't owe me anything. I would appreciate any useful information from here.

Looks like you need visual c++ redistributable package 2005.
