i have a 160gb drive pair that mfsinfo reports can be expanded 1 more
time, but mfsadd reports "nothing to add!".

an ideas as to why mfsadd and mfsinfo would not agree or why mfsadd
will not expand this drive pair?

two (2) new 160gb DTivo drives as follows:
- these were created by copying a 120gb+80gb pair using dd
- the 120gb+80gb drives were created from an OEM 40gb drive pair
- mfsinfo reports the 160gb drives as:
. total of 5 partition pairs in use for the pair
. total of ~195gb in use for the pair
. A-drive contains ~118gb and uses 3 partition pairs
. B-drive contains ~78gb and uses 2 partition pairs
. total of ~195gb in use for the pair
. says "can be expanded 1 more time"
- mfsadd -x reports
. "nothing to add"

i ran into a similar issue using mfsbackup/mfsrestore as you suggested
- which i tried _before_ dd. .it puked during the mfsrestore & expand
part of the process, so i went with the dd copy instead - thinking i'd
be able to simply mfsadd -x and be done with it.

it's not a big deal, as we're not near the storage limit right now, but
i'd like to make use of all the space i've paid for on the B-drive up
to the 137gb limit. right now i'm missing out on something like 50gb
of unused space.

The problem may have been using dd. That would copy the partition table
and basic drive information (format, etc) to the new drive, making it look
like it's a 120 or 80 meg drive. If msadd reads the same data,
it thinks there is no available (or formatted) drive space to expand into.

I believe there is a way to use mfsbackup/mfsrestore to move data from
old drives to new ones that allows you to use all the new space (up to
137mb)...
