Microphone can pick up sound but windows does not take it.

I'm using a Blue Snowball microphone but I have tried using other microphones and they have the same problem.
When I try to use it normally then it doesn't record anything but I know that the hardware works because if I listen to the microphone then it records.
I have it set as the standard.
EDIT: When I say it doesn't record anything I mean that windows itself doesn't recognize any sounds through it.(As far as I understand it atleast.)

The bars next to my microphone in this picture do not change regardless of what I say to it. It does however work fine if I listen to the microphone but I can't use it for anything else then.

Windows Settings(Start+I) ---> Privacy ---> Microphone ---> Check "Let apps use my microphone" and turn on microphone for each individual apps.
