10-20... minutes

[citation][nom]christop[/nom]Too much money..[/citation]

anything above $200 is a waste

$200 too much? not sure. specs are pretty decent - much more than another tablet I have seen at the same price.

No OLED screen, no sale. It's a crazy concept I know, but I actually expect to be able to use portable devices outside.

You could do all of Tom's a huge service and just STFU. If you can't be positive or add something why bother? If all you want to do is troll, just leave and make this a better place. Or stay and be ignored.

Cheers.

I honestly lol'ed at his remark. Instead of jumping off the deep end and biting at this "troll bait" (as you say) why dont you take your own advice and not be a troll yourself hm? I hope that isnt too much to ask. Also, if you stay and respond to this, ill ignore you.

Anywho, I actually have to say this specs on this tablet arent that bad. Its got a higher resolution than a lot out there, but that atom probably drains that battery super fast. I think if i got a tablet i would prefer windows 7(good in this case) to android, but thats just me i suppose.

All very good points. And well taken.
I have to agree that the specs on the ExoPC are quite impressive. But it is indeed a little pricey. I think that fact will be the barrier of entry for most people. Hopefully it will come more into line price-wise in the future. Or at least after the flood of new tablets are announced at CES2011.

[citation][nom]leon2006[/nom]No battery life specs.....???????[/citation]
Liliputing is reporting they got about 3.5 hours on one loaded with pre-release software. That is about what I would expect from an Atom N450. The only way I think to overcome this limitation is to pack in a huge battery. A lot of folks will be anxious to read the reviews once its released, myself included.

It looks like a very nice tablet. You'll of course sacrifice speed and responsiveness compared to iOS and Android (full desktop OS vs optimised mobile OS), but gain the ability to do serious productivity.

Like all tablets it's horribly overpriced in comparison to its specs, but at least 699 is competitive compared to the Galaxy Tab and even the iPad.

...But you gain the option of choice. You can use that choice and tweak the installed system.. imagine that.

You could always install Windows 7 Embedded Standard with a footprint ranging from 780Mb, 1.6Gb or the whole full install. Wow. You will also see an increase in battery life.

As for speed... Fit an SSD drive, done. Yes, I know, extra cost but you have the OPTION of doing so. Adding an SSD, say, to an Acer 1820ptz enabvled it to boot to desktop in 15 seconds. Not too shabby.

I prefer choice. That and the fact that it has a higher screen res than the other tablets.

P.s. It's already out there, just visit the Exopc forum for information. The initial devices sold have experienced problems but ExoPc 'do' seem to be taking it seriously, with actual replies to problems, unlike Apple, who will ignore problems and DELETE posts.

I played with an ExoPc for a few minutes at a Microsoft store recently. I didn't expect too much, but I liked what I saw. Clear display, even under the bright lights. Windows 7 was responsive, and if you want more of a tablet experience ExoPc provides that, and you are free to use it or not as you like. (It's just an app.) If you need even less of a tablet experience, say to finish up that Word doc or Excel spreadsheet, just connect a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Sound like too much luggage to me, but it's nice to have the option to flow between both worlds.

I've also played with a few Android tablets. I'd love to have one, but every time have a look-see I leave disappointed. Android's greatest strength of freedom to do with it as you like is its greatest weakness. Most tablets needs some serious polish on the UI. I've yet to see one with a nice smoothly operating interface. Jerky, jerky, jerky. It ruins the whole Android experience.
