MICROSOFT HARDWARE FOR CD/CVD ROM

Hello,I had Microsoft 5.1.2535.0 cd/dvd rom harddrive om my laptop and it was working well until a few days ago. I have tried to uninstall, then reinstall but nothing happens. Please tell me what to do as I need this for work. The driver is HL-DT-ST-DVD-ROM GDR8083N.I have an IBM THINKPAD
