Who said anything about storing movies? You can stream movies from Netflix (or from your Media Center PC) without needing any storage space. Store your movies on the PC, not the XBox.
It's a very valid comparison, although a lot of people get their high speed internet through the cable company anyway, so it may or may not save them much money to get rid of cable TV.
It's an interesting option to have a cheap media extender plus gaming machine.

M$ is slow on maketing, xbox360 is 1 year older than PS3 and Wii. Of course it should sell cheaper than Wii with its weakening sales...

Did you even finish the article? The last paragraph clearly states:

"Traditionally, renting movies online Xbox Live required the user to have a hard drive to store the full video file. Starting this fall, Microsoft’s deal with Netflix will grant Xbox 360 owners access to instant streaming of more than 12,000 feature films and television shows."
