Microsoft word wont work it wont bring up the icons

Hello,
For the past month or so my microsoft word will not work, it opens the white page up but wont bring any icons up such as file,edit, or any of the tool bars it then says "not responding". We have tried un-installing wind and re-installing and that doesnt seemed to have worked, we have an anti virus system on our laptop so we know we dont have any viruses. Please could anyone help?!

2. What Office version?

3. Did you do a fresh Windows install or a repair install?

what is OS?
and we have office 2000, we did a fresh windows install completely took it off the laptop and then re-installed it!!

OS means operating system, like XP, Vista, Win 7, etc.

Glad it works, but a fresh install of Office might have worked too.
