Lately I am noticing beads of moisture on items in my basement!!! Will a
de-humidifier solve this? What kind would I need for a 25' x 25' basement?

thanks,

Probably will. I used to get mold growing in the concrete floor till I got mine. It does a
1100 sqft basement quite nicely.

Get one that has a hose to dump the wet outside or it will fill up and stop working till you
empty the bucket or perhaps you will just flood your basement.

It's easy to set the dehumidifier up so that it drains into a sink/
drain of some sort.

Also check for Radon gas ( it seeps in through concrete, and is the #2
cause of Lung Cancer )

You might like to check out a "Humidex". It costs less to run than a
humidifier (maybe $3 a month) and prevents toxic mold. It does require
professional installation but takes better care of your house, lowering
humidity and making the air more breathable.

They have an irritating homepage here.

Also consider painting the basement walls with DryLok if it's a masonary
block. But even concrete will draw water from a moist surrounding ground.
I know we're not talking about true leaking, but moisture in the basement is
more due to ground water than humidity. DryLok even stopped serious leakage
through my cinderblock, although it ain't a pretty smell. Once DryLok is
painted on the surface, it seeps into the block or concrete, creating a
solid barrier against moisture, and it can easily be painted over with
normal interior paint without degradating it's performance. Since I painted
the studio with DryLok it has become quite pleasant in the studio and water
has only been a problem from freak circumstances like 4" of hurricane rain
in an hour due to a plugged up outdoor drain in my stairwell. I have not
had to use a dehumdifier in at least 8 years.

The Radon gas check is a good idea, but if you use DryLok on the walls and
floor, you will not have a Radon problem. The stuff even stops gas seepage.

Check out http://www.buildingscience.com/whatsnew.htm for a great deal of
information. There are a number of possible sources depending on your
environment. All that said, a dehumidifier (and maybe some movement of air
when you're not doing audio) sounds like a good immediate move to reduce
damage. The units are rated by room size. If you can drain water out
(gravity or an existing sump pump) then you don't have to dump the bucket of
water out.
