Monitor, External Monitor, S-Video won't work

Hi All,
I have a compaq laptop and the connection between laptop and the monitor went bust. Laptop boots allright and I can see the machine in the network. But using an external monitor or s-video doesn't work.
Also looks like I haven't shared my C drive to get my files using the network.

Any ideas how I can retrieve the data ??

Yes I know

search for erd commander

boot from a cd and you can get your data back

I would just take the hard disk out and plug it into a desktop. A lot easier than some software solution...that will only work if you've set your BIOS to boot from CD.
