What is your budget?
~$750(USD)
How much battery life do you need?
Decent charge when running conservative cpu. I figure most laptops nowadays will run on low cpu settings for at least 10 hours right?
Do you want to play games with your laptop?
Team fortress 2 / Left 4 dead 2 / Battlefield bad company 2 / CS:S (basically any Source-engine game) on high settings.
What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo / Video editing, watching movies, Etc.)
Sometimes schoolwork (openoffice documents, etc) but mostly gaming.
How long do you want to keep your laptop?
I would like future-proofing for at least 7 years. (gee, thanks moore.)
Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like.
I've had some bad run-ins with Toshiba laptops and would prefer to stay away from them. (Like the toshiba overheating line)
What country do you live in?
United states
Other:
I'm not looking to render Crysis, I want something that can play most MP-FPS/MMOs on decent settings. Most document editing will be done on ubuntu, but I'd like win7 x64 (I think that's the only user windows version being shipped right now?). I don't need overkill so obviously nothing crazy like a i7 EE, especially not playing old Source-engine games. This will be a laptop I'd take to lan parties, not a replacement for a desktop.
