my 10.1 is not upgrading

I bought 10.1 in 2013. It always told me that it would keep me aware of upgrading its software. Since I knew the release of jelly bean, I'm trying every time to update its software. Till now it has never been updated where now there's the release of kit Kat version. What am I supposed to do with this?
