my dvd player only has rca jacks and an s connection port. my tv has one coax male connection. Can I mate the two?

I was given a 3.5mm stereo male to dual rca male cord and a coax female to rca female adapter by Radio Shack. This fix didn't fix.

You should've got a 3.5mm stereo male (tv end) to dual rca female (dvd end)
