My DVD player won't work

please my laptop got formatted due to a virus infection and i think it affected my CD player and i need your help on how to fix it because it wouldn't play any CD and moreover the DVD player has vanished from the screen of the laptop.please help me.thank you

any unknown devices or exclamation marks in device manager? if the drive has died then you have 2 choices, get a new laptop dvd drive that will work with your laptop or get an external dvd drive either a thin drive or a 5.25" version tho that needs external power wereas the thin drive gets it's power from the usb port.
