My mother's flat screen tv has lost the picture, although the sound still works. What should she do?

First - get TV model from your mom, and find the manual, see how you can reset it.

If it does not help - It depend how old is the TV. If she (or you) can afford it, find a service shop willing to look at it. If it's more than 10 years old, get a new one.
