my laptop connects to the internet, but i can only open up my email????????? any other sites "can't be reached"

My HP laptop is new- under a month old, and last night the internet started going awry. I was connected through wifi, and some sites wouldn't connect, but some would.
today I brought it into my office and connected with ethernet, but the only site I can open is my email. no one had access to my laptop, so it's not an internet filter or such a kind of thing....
I'm really not sure what the problem can be.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, but that didn't work either...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Try restoring the computer to a point/date prior to the problem starting and see if this resolves it. If something was updated, or changed by a program that is causing the restriction, then it should remove that.

If that doesn't fix the problem, try starting the computer up in "Safe Mode with Networking" and see if you can get the internet to work. Granted some sites will not work due to being in "Safe Mode" but it will help you determine if anything has been installed on the laptop that is causing problems. Any bad program, etc., would not run in "Safe Mode".

That sounds like it might work, but i have no idea how to do either one...
would you be able to give me instructions, or direct me to a site with instructions?
