my laptop crashed and now I have to install microsoft office. The disk is asking for a product key number but I don't know how

I have my backup disks for Microsoft office software but when I put in the disk it asks for a 25-character product number. I don't have any of the information from i originally put it on my laptop in 2007. How do I get a new number so I can install it for school?

The product key should be in the packaging you got with the discs.

If you can access the old hard drive (probably have to put it in a USB enclosure) then you can scan it for keys. Do some searching for software that can pull the Office key from the old hard drive. Recover Keys has worked for me as an example.
