My laptop display problem

Hi there
I have old laptop (Dell latitude d510)
There is a problem with dislpay
When I switch on laptop the display is only seen partially about 1/4 vertically
I want to repair .I want to use it as desktop using LCD monitor.but did do not directly displayed to monitor I have to press multi keys
It only senn after windows xp booted .now windows is not booting it stucks . when I try to install os it is not displayed to monitor .

So how to use monitor directly as display to install n without any costs. I want to remove the LCD display n cover of monitor

How to use that monitor as above.can I connect monitor as primary display?how to.
I want to use it as mini PC like nuc PC

Hi,

What you can do to use the external display as your primary monitor is to remove the ribbon cable that connects the built in display to the monitor and once that's disconnected, connect your external display and it should make it as the primary display.
