my laptop doesn't know it has an hdmi

I've been using my laptop to connect to tv, but then upgraded to windows 10. Other threads say make hdmi your second monitor, but I can't find hdmi anywhere in the computer. When I search, it says it can't find one. Not too techy and could be missing the obvious, but frustrated! Thanks
