My laptop is too slow (acer)

The laptop is Acer Aspire 5732z. It's old a bit, has 3GB ram and a pentium processor.

Windows 7 was installed at first, but then i installed win 10. But it's laggy and slow. Even when opening a picture in windows explorer, it waits too much. if i downgrade to windows 7 will anything change?

windows 10 sucks because it installs too many updates in the background and is very slow for crappy laptops like mine. What's the best and the most smooth OS for my laptop? Thanks for any help.

Probably a light version of Linux.

You might also move to a Solid State Drive and up the RAM. So, a clean install (Win 7) on a SSD with more RAM should make a big difference.
