The laptop indicates that it is on but the screen does not gets on..what should be the solution? The battery is in build and non removable

Connect an external monitor to it, and use the hotkey buttons to swap to that, does it work OK then? If you shine a light on the screen can you see an image or is it fully black? Could be bad screen or inverter, loose connection, bad video card.
